We honor the mother’s choices for delivery, including waterbirth, and facilitate the normal birth process with herbs, massage, and many time honored wise women techniques. We monitor the baby closely with a waterproof Doppler, and the mother vitals and progress in a non intrusive way, encouraging hydration and nutrition as needed.

Two midwives are always present at the delivery. They carry 2 oxygen tanks, resuscitation equipment, medications and IV setups, and are trained in advanced neonatal resuscitation, should the need arise. CDM’s are also trained and licensed to provide IV antibiotics in labor, if that is a woman’s choice when she tests positive for Group B Streptococcus. When transport is indicated, midwives will stay with the family until the delivery at the hospital is complete, vitals are stable and breastfeeding is established.
