Amy Reedy
Midwife, CPM, CPM

Amy Reedy has called Alaska her home since 1998. She is the proud mother of three sons, all of them born at home; Stone, born in 1997, Woapé born in 1999, and Eli born in 2000.

Amy's path to midwifery might have begun with her own birth experience. Adopted at birth, she has no information about her own birth. This has led to a deep curiosity and interest in birth experiences. She believes that our first moments on the planet shape who we will become in the future. She is dedicated to empowering mothers and assisting them to birth their babies and gently as possible. She strives to create a world where babies first experiences are filled with love and trust.

Amy, is a licensed midwife in Alaska since 2007. She studied at the Sage Femme Midwifery School in Portland, Oregon, and is trained in the "Birthing From Within" childbirth education. She is current with adult and neonatal resuscitation, as well as IV therapy.

Amy's primary birth practice is based in Homer Alaska, but will travel to the Kasilof/Soldotna/Kenai/Sterling area as well. Amy and Sarah are proud to provide an alternative birthing option on the Kenai Peninsula for low risk women who do not want to give birth in a hospital.

While not catching babies, Amy loves to travel and experience different cultures, play basketball and make ceramics

Philosophy of Birth

WE BELIEVE...

We believe childbirth is a normal natural event that when left to nature will result in the safe joyful delivery of a healthy baby. As midwives, we support and assist the birthing parents in their journey through pregnancy labor birth and postpartum. Using our clinical skills, intellect and intuition we seek to educate and provide you with healthy birth choices and will inform you of anything that falls outside the range of normal and safe. We seek to nuture a woman's sense of personal strength and self confidence so that she may realize birth as an empowering experience. When birth is integrated into life as a family event, the family is strengthened as well. We strive for individualized care, our job is to provide information and choices in hopes that it will aid you in making informed decisions for you and your family.
