Meet the Midwives

Chinmayo (Christine) Forro

Chinmayo Forro was born and raised with four other siblings in the Belgian Congo - Africa - where her father was a medical doctor and her mother a musician. At a very young age, she was involved with and began developing a curiosity for childbirth.
After experiencing many cultures around the world, amongst others Brazil, where she arrived in 1971 as a diplomat and lived for 15 years, Chinmayo's calling to midwifery started while volunteering as a doula at San Francisco General Hospital. Before graduating in El Paso, Texas in March 1992, she studied and apprenticed with experienced nurse midwives and direct entry midwives. In April 1992 she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she became licensed in 1994, and has had a homebirth practice until 2016 (

When she became aware, through pre- and perinatal psychology, of how the trauma of birth has lifelong effects imprinted in our memories, she passionately got involved in facilitating gentle birth choices for childbearing families.

In 2017, Chinmayo hit the jackpot when Sarah Robertson and Amy Reedy asked her to join their practice in Homer. She always dreamed of retiring there because of the expansive views of Kachemak Bay and its wildlife, and a paradise for avid kayakers like her.

Chinmayo is also a CEA Childbirth Educator, Aquanatal Instructor, Esalen Certified Massage Practioner, as well as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Practioner (Esalen Institute). She speaks French, English and Portuguese fluently, and is reasonable with Spanish.

As midwives, we support and assist the birthing parents in their journey through pregnancy labor birth and postpartum. Using our clinical skills, intellect and intuition we seek to educate and provide you with healthy birth choices and will inform you of anything that falls outside the range of normal and safe. We seek to nuture a woman's sense of personal strength and self confidence so that she may realize birth as an empowering experience. When birth is integrated into life as a family event, the family is strengthened as well. We strive for individualized care, our job is to provide information and choices in hopes that it will aid you in making informed decisions for you and your family.
