Meet the Midwives
Sarah Robertson
Midwife, AM
Sarah Robertson has lived in Homer for the past 30 years. She has two grown children and a loving partner who have cheered her on as she answered her calling to midwifery late in life. After assisting Amy on a home birth Sarah realized that her devotion to family and the empowerment of women would be uniquely encompassed in midwifery.
Sarah is a student of Via Vita Midwifery School and an apprentice to her mentor, Amy Reedy, she is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and CPR. Sarah is a compassionate and vocal champion for women, informed choice is a foundation of Sarah’s advocacy for birthing mothers and their families.
When Sarah isn’t at the birth center or visiting a new baby at home she can be found in her garden or riding her horse on the beach, unless it’s snowing then look to the slopes; this apprentice midwife is a loyal ski bum.
Philosophy of Birth
WE BELIEVE...
We believe childbirth is a normal natural event that when left to nature will result in the safe joyful delivery of a healthy baby. As midwives, we support and assist the birthing parents in their journey through pregnancy labor birth and postpartum. Using our clinical skills, intellect and intuition we seek to educate and provide you with healthy birth choices and will inform you of anything that falls outside the range of normal and safe. We seek to nuture a woman's sense of personal strength and self confidence so that she may realize birth as an empowering experience. When birth is integrated into life as a family event, the family is strengthened as well. We strive for individualized care, our job is to provide information and choices in hopes that it will aid you in making informed decisions for you and your family.
